Selecting Exercise Equipment for Legs
More and more people, coming from different age groups, are becoming conscious of their weight and figure. This is the main reason they buy different equipment such as treadmill, exercise bikes, dumbbells and other gym equipment that can help them reduce weight and shape up their bodies. Although these pieces of equipment are really helpful, one has to understand that even without these things; with the right exercises and workout, anyone can achieve the body he/she has been dreaming of.
There have been tremendous advances in exercise equipment for legs over the last several years. The improvement in design and technology has led to a real boom in the fitness equipment industry. Many people these days are overwhelmed at the number of choices available when it comes time to purchase exercise equipment. When it comes to purchasing exercise equipment there are two main categories, muscle building and cardiovascular. The same is true for purchasing equipment for legs.
Good muscle equipment for legs includes the leg press, calf raise machine, and leg extension/leg curls machine. When looking at leg presses you first will need to decide if you want vertical or seated. Either way, you can use this machine to work your quadriceps, gluteus maximus, and back. A calf raise machine is designed to work the calf muscles in the back of your lower legs. These machines are also available in standing or seated varieties. To work your quadriceps and hamstrings you will want to use a leg extension/leg curl machine.
Some of the best cardiovascular equipment includes stair climbers, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, and treadmills. One of the great advantages of the stair climber is that it can burn tons of calories quickly. While it gives you a great total body workout, much of the benefit will be seen in the legs. Stationary bikes are great low impact pieces of equipment that allow you to work your legs and butt while getting a cardiovascular workout at the same time. The great thing about using a stationary bike is that you can go for a ride no matter what the weather conditions. Elliptical machines are great for those with sore knees. They allow a good cardiovascular workout as well as the ability to build your endurance. Treadmills offer good cardiovascular and legs workouts. The main downside to a treadmill is that it puts more impact on your knees than the other cardiovascular equipment.
